Poker Room

Summary:   A

Poker Room is a very popular and quickly-growing site featuring aesthetically-pleasing software, a healthy player base, and frequent reload bonuses.  It is the largest member of a network of about 10 poker sites who share tables on the Ongame Network, creating a very good selection of games.  Late in 2005, Coral-Eurobet joined Ongame, bringing with it a generally unskilled core of poker players who populate the low and middle-limit games.  Proceed cautiously if you are contemplating playing high-stakes at Poker Room: the games are a popular haunt of several skilled players. We highly recommend the site, especially in light of the exclusive sign-up bonus they have extended to PokerCroaker.com readers (see below).

Sign-up Bonus

Poker Room has provided PokerCroaker.com with an exclusive sign-up bonus code for our readers that gets you a bonus twice as high as what is available to the general public.  Enter "croaker" in the "Promotion code" field on Poker Room's new account registration screen, and receive a 40% match of your first deposit up to $200 in bonus money. See detailed instructions for this bonus on our Bonus Codes page.

Software:   A

Poker Room's software rivals Ultimate Bet's for the title of most attractive interface.  The graphics are slick and unobtrusive, and game play is quick and smooth.  Particularly pleased will be Macintosh and Linux users for whom Poker Room offers compatibility, unlike several other sites.  Poker Room also stands at the forefront of the industry in offering a no-download version of their software, and even an innovative version for cell phones!  The only modest drawback is the maximum of 4 tables that can be played at once, which might disappoint players used to multi-tabling at a more frenzied pace.

Caliber of competition:   A

The competition at Poker Room seems to vary dramatically, with some players reporting very soft competition, and others claiming to feel somewhat outmatched.  Our own experience has been generally favorable: our editors have found very juicy games on Poker Room, especially the shorthanded tables, all the way up through the higher-stakes for both limit and no-limit.  The single-table tournament offerings were plentiful and relatively soft.  While you may occasionally find yourself seated among some tougher opponents, with Poker Room's healthy player base and broad selection of games, some prudent table selection should go a long way.

Customer service:   B +

Poker Room's customer support is above average, with both phone and email support, although our emails sometimes took as much as 48 hours to be answered.  Cashouts are typically processed quickly.
